When we started working on CHRIS, we began with a question that’s rarely asked out loud: why do small teams still track leave in spreadsheets when the market is full of HR tools?
We heard the answer dozens of times, in almost the same words: “We tried a tool, but it was too complicated.” And right after: “And we never knew what it would end up costing us.”
CHRIS is our answer to both sentences.
Simple — on purpose, not by accident
Most HR systems are built for large organisations, and small teams get sold the same thing with fewer seats: modules for performance reviews, career planning, recruitment, surveys… A team of fifteen uses exactly two things out of all that — employee records and leave.
So with CHRIS, we spent most of our time deciding what we would not build. What remained is what every team actually needs: an employee directory, leave requests and approvals, quotas and balances, a shared calendar with Croatian public holidays, and roles and permissions with two-factor sign-in. No unused modules, no settings nobody understands, no onboarding manual.
In tools like this, simplicity is the hardest quality to achieve — and the easiest to ruin. To this day we weigh every new feature with the same question: will a ten-person team without a single HR specialist actually use it?
Free up to 10 members — forever, not as a trial
The second decision was just as deliberate: CHRIS is free for up to 10 active members. That’s not a 14-day trial, nor a stripped-down version with locked features — every feature is available to everyone, and we don’t ask for a card until you go past ten active members.
The reason is simple. The smallest teams benefit the most from order and have the smallest budget for tools. If CHRIS brings order to a small team’s leave tracking — great; when the team grows, we believe they’ll gladly stay. That’s the business we want to build: on teams that grow, not on teams that forgot to cancel a subscription.
Pricing that fits in one sentence
Once you go past ten active members, the price is €1 + VAT per active member per month. That is the entire pricing policy — no packages, no tiers, no “contact sales”.
A few details we think are fair to spell out:
- only active members are billed — deactivated ones (former employees) stay in your records but don’t count,
- prices are quoted excluding VAT, which is added on the invoice in accordance with applicable regulations,
- billing is monthly, with no contractual commitment — cancel whenever you like,
- every customer gets every feature, regardless of size.
A team of 25 thus pays €25 a month (plus VAT) — less than one team coffee run. And that’s intentional: the price of a leave-tracking tool shouldn’t be a line item anyone needs a meeting about.
What’s next
We build CHRIS in Zagreb, the data is stored in the EU, and the roadmap follows what users actually ask for — not the length of the price list. If you run a team and want to see whether this approach suits you, try CHRIS for free — up to 10 active members it costs nothing, now or later.
